about

Legendary New Jersey Shore jazz singer Rosemary Conte's first official release - with a backing group of NYC jazz stars!

In her own words:
"My singing career began at age 4 with my first stage appearance with my musical family. My father was a bassist, guitarist, and singer. I had a busy youth performing in shows and concerts and as a teenager, with a traveling follies revue, then with my father's band, live and on radio and tv. I moved from Utica, NY to NJ in 1969, and in a couple of years after a divorce, established myself on what was a shore jazz scene, even being one of the organizers of the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Festival/Foundation.

I've been privileged to have performed with some of the world's greatest jazz musicians and the best of the Jersey Shore Jazz players, at every imaginable kind of setting and venue, including, of course, jazz clubs and in concert.

Proudly, today my two oldest sons are considered among the cream of today's NY musicians, Steve and John Conte. I was their first teacher, and have been teaching singing and guiding aspiring artists for decades in my private studio and in colleges; and most recently, at the Count Basie Theater Cool School.

I created what was to be a seminal organization for musicians and singers called All Music Inc., and published a companion “magletter.” All Music, Inc. was an assistance and support and advocacy organization in the 80's at a time when the public appetite for music was rapidly changing."

Her sons Steve & John Conte from the bands Company Of Wolves, Crown Jewels, The Contes, Steve Conte & The Crazy Truth have also worked with New York Dolls, Paul Simon, David Bowie, Ian Hunter, Roseann Cash, Southside Johnny, Maceo Parker, Billy Squier, Peter Wolf, Phoebe Snow, Blood Sweat & Tears, Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes, Willie Nile, Glen Burtnick and many more.
